About Turing:
Turing is one of the world’s fastest-growing AI companies accelerating the advancement and deployment of powerful AI systems.
Turing helps customers in two ways: Working with the world’s leading AI labs to advance frontier model capabilities in thinking, reasoning, coding, agentic behavior, multimodality, multilinguality, STEM and frontier knowledge; and leveraging that work to build real-world AI systems that solve mission-critical priorities for companies.
Role Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Lead to drive the development of production-grade AI systems. Your primary focus will be building and orchestrating AI agents and designing the infrastructure to evaluate them at scale. This role requires technical versatility beyond a single language stack and a deep understanding of agentic workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Agent Orchestration & Evaluation: Design and build scalable infrastructure to orchestrate complex AI agents and execute high-volume, automated evaluations.
- Lead Engineer: Manage a squad of AI and backend engineers to deliver high-quality features on schedule.
- Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to the codebase, design architecture, manage infrastructure, and define API contracts (expected 50%+ individual contribution).
- System Architecture: Design scalable, low-latency architectures using the best tools for the job, regardless of the primary stack.
- Polyglot Engineering: Switch context between Python, JavaScript, and other languages (e.g., Go, Rust, Java) as required by system needs.
- AI Implementation: Operationalize GenAI models; work with Data Scientists to convert experimental workflows into stable production services.
- Technical Strategy: Implement fast data pipelines and infrastructure planning.
Required Qualifications
- Agentic AI Expertise: Proven experience building autonomous AI agents and designing scalable frameworks for automated model/agent evaluation.
- Core Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of Python and/or JavaScript (Node.js/TypeScript) internals.
- Language Agnosticism: Proven ability to read, debug, and write code in languages outside your primary stack (e.g., Java, C++, Go).
- Leadership Experience: Previous experience leading a team of software engineers or acting as a tech lead.
- AI/LLM Knowledge: Practical understanding of GenAI concepts, RAG pipelines, and inference optimization.
- System Design: Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure to support massive parallel evaluations.
- Problem Solving: Ability to prioritize engineering simplicity and user value over complexity.
Perks of Freelancing With Turing:
- Work in a fully remote environment.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading LLM companies.
