Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with 6 to 10 years of core backend development experience in Python and SQL. You will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining reliable server-side systems, databases, and microservices.

While this is fundamentally a core backend software engineering role, our applications interface with modern Generative AI capabilities. You will leverage your strong engineering and debugging background to integrate LLM APIs, construct efficient prompt workflows, and ensure high backend performance.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Systems Development: Design, build, and optimize scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI / Flask / Django).

Database & SQL Management: Author, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, database schemas, and data pipelines (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).

Deep System Debugging: Diagnose, profile, and fix memory leaks, performance bottlenecks, and asynchronous queue issues in production backend environments.

AI & API Integration: Call and integrate LLM provider APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or cloud-native models) into backend workflows; handle structured prompt engineering and response parsing.

Cloud Deployment (GCP Preferred): Deploy and maintain backend services in cloud environments (GCP preferred—e.g., Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Compute Engine, or equivalent AWS/Azure services).

Required Technical Skills

Backend Engineering Focus: 6 to 10 years of hands-on software development experience with a heavy focus on core Python.

Database & SQL Mastery: Strong proficiency in relational databases and writing high-performance SQL queries.

Advanced Debugging: Proven ability to debug complex backend failures, analyze logs, and optimize application latency and memory usage.

AI/LLM Familiarity: Practical experience calling LLM APIs, handling JSON/structured outputs, and constructing effective prompts within backend logic.

Software Fundamentals: Strong grasp of Object-Oriented/Functional programming, microservices, Docker, Git, and CI/CD.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

Exposure to async Python frameworks (⁠asyncio⁠, ⁠Celery⁠) and caching layers (⁠Redis⁠).
