About Turing
Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L.
Role Overview
We build environments used to benchmark AI models on real desktop engineering and scientific software. We need a technical writer and LaTeX typesetter to build the templates for this domain. A template is the reusable foundation for one application: what the application can do, and the realistic material a task is built from. Once a template exists, many tasks are generated from it.
This role structures complex research, bibliographic references, and multi-author LaTeX publications into reproducible, publication-standard documents.
Job Responsibilities
- Application capability mapping. Work through an application's real capabilities (supported input types, the operations that matter, what it exports) and record them in a structured form the rest of the team builds on.
- Environment base assets. Produce the material a task runs on: multi-file LaTeX document repositories, BibTeX citation databases, custom style packages (.cls, .sty), and TikZ vector diagrams. Realistic enough that a working practitioner would recognise it, and internally consistent, since the details have to agree with each other.
- Reference solutions. Complete tasks in your domain on record, so there is proof the work is humanly achievable and a reference for what correct looks like.
- You are not writing scoring code. You define what correct means; engineers implement the checks.
- Document prompts, workflows, and asset metadata in a clear and structured manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and incorporate feedback effectively and efficiently.
Required Qualification:
- At least 5+ years of professional experience with Research and Technical Writing.
- Proficient in 2+ of the listed tools: Zotero , TeXStudio, ShareLaTeX (Overleaf).
- Professional domain expertise in scientific/technical writing or academic publishing.
- Fluency in LaTeX syntax, mathematical typesetting, and bibliography management.
- Ability to explain why a typeset document or citation graph is correct, not only that it is.
- Comfortable working async and remote for the duration of the engagement.
- Clear written English, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and consistency
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
